Carl K. Arnet

Carl Krogh Arnet has more than 40 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry.

Knut R. Sæthre

Knut R. Sæthre is Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Mr. Sæthre came from the position as Finance Director of APL Plc and President of APL Norway. Mr. Sæthre has his background within finance and the offshore industry, and has more than 25 years of international experience. He was previously employed by Aker Kværner and ABB, holding several executive positions such as SVP and CFO.

He holds a lic.rer.pol. degree from the University of Fribourg, Switzerland and an MBA degree in strategic management from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration (NHH). 

Lin Espey

Lin Garner Espey is Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Mr. Espey was previously Head of E&P of BW Offshore, a position he held from 1 July 2017 until his appointment at BW Energy.

Prior to joining BW Offshore, Mr. Espey was employed at British Gas, BP, Vaalco and Memorial Resource Development from 1991 to 2016. Mr. Espey’s training by background is reservoir and production engineering, field development and economic evaluation.

Mr. Espey holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. Mr. Espey is a member of the University of Texas System Chancellor’s Council. 

Thomas Kolanski

Thomas Kolanski is Chief Commcercial Officer.

Prior to BW Energy, Mr. Kolanski was VP of Business Development and GM of BW Offshore USA. He led the team that identified and secured the initial field development opportunities for BW Energy and was instrumental in the development of the BW Energy strategy.

Mr. Kolanski has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas and a Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law and was admitted to Texas Bar in 2009.

He has 15 years of industry experience and has worked for companies such as Technip, Wellstream and SBM. 

Thomas Young

Thomas Young is Chief Strategy Officer (CSO).

Mr. Young was a former SVP of Commercial Strategy & Analysis of BW Offshore. He joined BWO in 2012 and a main contributor in the development of E&P strategic initiative. He completed a Bachelor Degree in Commerce with double major in Finance and Economics from Griffith University Australia. 

Tara Leiter

Tara Leiter is Executive Vice President and General Counsel.

Ms. Leiter joined BW Energy in 2020. Prior to joining BW Energy, she was a senior lawyer at ExxonMobil and global law firm, Blank Rome. She has over 20 years of experience in oil and gas, maritime, governance, trading/hedging, and large project finance.

Ms. Leiter has a Bachelor of Law/International Relations and a Master of Laws in International Law from the University of Malta and a Master of Laws in International Maritime Law from the IMO International Maritime Law Insititute, Malta. Ms. Leiter is a dual qualified lawyer in the US and UK.

Liana Almeida

Liana Almeida is Senior Vice President of Human Capital

Liana Almeida joined BW Energy in 2022. Ms. Almeida is former VP of Human Resources for Wellbore Technologies Business Segment – NOV. She has a broad Human Resources industry experiencecfrom major E&P Services Companies in US, Latin America, and Africa.

Ms. Almeida has an MBA in Human Resources from Pontificia Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Andreas Sohmen-Pao

“Andreas Sohmen-Pao is Chairman of BW Group and listed affiliates BW Offshore, BW LPG, Hafnia, BW Energy and Cadeler. He is also Chairman of the Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation, and a trustee of the Lloyd’s Register Foundation.

Mr Sohmen-Pao was previously Chairman of the Singapore Maritime Foundation and has served as a non-executive director of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Ltd, London P&I Club, Navigator Holdings, Singapore Symphonia Company, National Parks Board Singapore, Sport Singapore and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore amongst others.

Mr Sohmen-Pao graduated from Oxford University in England with an honours degree in Oriental Studies and has an MBA from Harvard Business School.”

Marco Beenen

Marco Beenen is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BW Offshore. Mr. Beenen has been employed as CEO since 1 July 2019, and previously held the position of Chief Operations Officer (COO).

Prior to joining BW Offshore, Mr. Beenen held the position as President of GustoMSC Inc. and Vice President Engineering with SBM Offshore.

He holds a M.Sc. in Naval Architecture and Offshore Hydrodynamics from Delft University of Technology.

Tormod Vold

Tormod Vold has more than 34 years international experience from oil and gas operating companies. He is the former Technical Director for Shell Gabon (2010-2014).

Mr. Vold holds a M.Sc. from Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and received extensive training as part of Shell´s Leadership Development Programs, including Business Leadership qualifications from INSEAD.

Hilde Drønen

Hilde Drønen is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of DOF ASA, an oilfield services group listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange.

Mrs. Drønen has several directorships of various energy companies. Her previous experience includes being the CFO in DOF Management AS (2004-2007), Director of Finance with Bergen Yards AS (2003-2004), and Group Controller for the Møgster Group (1995-2003).

She holds a Master’s Degree from the Norwegian School of Management (BI) and MBA from Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration (NHH).

Russell Scheirman

Russell Scheirman has more than 35 years in the oil & gas industry. Mr Scheirman has held senior positions at McKinsey, ExxonMobil and VAALCO Energy, Inc. (1991-2015).

He holds a B.Sc. & M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Duke University, and an MBA from California Lutheran University.

Ana Zambelli

Ms. Ana Zambelli was a Managing Director of Brookfield Private Equity Inc, responsible for business operations in Brazil. She has more than 23 years of international experience in the oil and gas industry.

Ms. Zambelli is currently a board member at Seadrill and the head of the Diversity Committee of the Brazilian Petroleum Institute (IBP). She also has been a board member of a wide range of companies within the energy sector including Petrobras and Braskem and in other industries.  Her previous experience also includes senior executive roles within Maersk Drilling, Transocean and Schlumberger.

Ms. Zambelli holds a Master of Science Degree from Heriot-Watt University in Scotland, a Bachelor of Science degree from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and post graduate certifications from Columbia University and MIT.

Sophie Smith

Mrs. Sophie Smith joined BW Group in August 2021 as the Chief Human Resources Officer. Mrs. Smith’s focus is the people strategy for BW Group, of which one key element is the identification and development of talent.

Before joining BW Group, Mrs Smith was HR Director for the EMEA and then the APAC regions of Experian. Roles which covered 37 countries. While at Experian she designed the company’s global strategy on the Future of Work, securing board approval. She also took a lead role in acquisition integrations as well as divestment planning. Prior to Experian, Mrs Smith spent time at 3i and was accountable for the company’s global early career and talent development programmes. Before 3i she was Head of HR for Corporate Functions at the Royal Bank of Scotland, supporting the bank though a significant period of restructuring and cultural transformation. She started her career at Rolls-Royce, spending time living and working in China and Singapore.

Mrs. Smith has a first class honours degree from Durham University and is a member of the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development.

Bjarte Bøe

Mr Bjarte Bøe has over thirty years of experience in the finance industry. He currently serves as a Director of Hermitage Offshore, a NYSE listed company and Agera Venture, a Norwegian venture capital company.

Mr Bøe is a member of the Nomination Committee of BW Offshore Limited and Chairman of the Investment Committee at SEB Venture Capital, a subsidiary of Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken AB (publ), or SEB, a Nordic financial services group, where from 1995 to June 2019, he held a range of management positions. He most recently served as Head of Shipping and Offshore Finance at SEB, and was Global Head of Investment Banking at SEB Stockholm between 2012 and 2016. Mr Bøe previously held various other bank related management positions at Christiania Bank between 1986 and 1995, a Norwegian bank that later merged with MeritaNordbanken to become Nordea, and was a shipbroker at R.S. Platou between 1983 and 1986.

Mr Bøe has an MBA from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration, graduated in 1983.

Elaine Yew Wen Suen

Ms Elaine Yew Wen Suen is a Senior Partner in Egon Zehnder, one of the world’s largest executive search and talent strategy firm. Ms Yew’s focus is on CEO and C-suite succession planning, and board effectiveness and she also advises clients on CEO development, top team effectiveness, and organisational culture.

Before joining the firm, Ms Yew led an industry change program while at Global Freight Exchange, the world’s first Internet-based global marketplace for air cargo. Prior to that, she was Executive Director with Goldman Sachs in the European Equities Division and was a Consultant with Monitor Company. Ms Yew started her career with the Singapore Economic Development Board, helping Singapore companies develop their presence in Indochina and Myanmar in the early 1990s. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the National University of Singapore and chairs the Industry Advisory Board of NUS’ Centre for FutureReady Graduates. Ms Yew also serves on the Board of Governors of the Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus group of schools in Singapore, the Board of Workforce Singapore and the Advisory Board of Women’s Forum Singapore. Ms Yew is a member of the Asia Advisory Board of Allianz and sits on the board of The Majurity Trust and chairs the Tangent Initiative.

Ms Yew has a BA with Honours in English and Drama from the University of Kent and an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.
